Covid-19 roundup: Inside CTAP: 270 trials underway, 570+ in the FDA line; WHO chief calls out 'vaccine nationalism'

More than 270 clinical trials for potential Covid-19 drugs have been cleared by the FDA, according to the agency, with another 570 programs being hustled in a mad rush to develop therapies that can address the myriad ways the coronavirus infection afflicts patients.

Even as the NIH spearheaded efforts to generate solid data for the most promising candidates through large-scale master protocols, the FDA kept its door open for individual drug developers and their experimental and repurposed drugs.
