Covid-19 roundup: EU re­stric­tions al­ready hav­ing im­pact, Japan says; Mod­er­na seeks to up vial ca­pac­i­ty, sees Sin­ga­pore OK

The Eu­ro­pean Union has yet to block any ship­ments, but its sur­prise de­ci­sion last week to re­strict vac­cine ex­ports is al­ready hav­ing ram­i­fi­ca­tions, Japan said.

Japan­ese of­fi­cials claimed Mon­day that the move has im­pact­ed their vac­cine sup­ply sched­ule as the is­land na­tion, like many rich and mid­dle-in­come coun­tries, strug­gles to se­cure as many vac­cines from for­eign man­u­fac­tures as fast as pos­si­ble.
