Covid-19 roundup: Oxford investigator sees 'small chance' for vaccine rollout by year end; Fosun follows Pfizer with final choice of BioNTech candidate

Oxford University is “optimistic” it will have late-stage trial results for its Covid-19 vaccine with AstraZeneca this year, which could set it up for a speedy approval at the end of December or in early 2021.

At the UK’s Science and Technology Committee and Health and Social Care Committee meeting on Wednesday, vaccine trial chief investigator Andrew Pollard said Oxford is getting closer to a readout. “I’m optimistic that we could reach that point before the end of this year,” he said, remarking that there’s a “small chance” Britain could roll out the vaccine before Christmas. “But I just don’t know,” he said.
