Serum In­sti­tute of In­dia CEO Adar Poon­awal­la has asked coun­tries wait­ing for dos­es of As­traZeneca and Ox­ford Uni­ver­si­ty’s vac­cine to “please be pa­tient,” as the man­u­fac­tur­er has been di­rect­ed to pri­or­i­tize In­dia’s needs.

The Serum In­sti­tute is the world’s largest vac­cine man­u­fac­tur­er by vol­ume, ac­cord­ing to Reuters. It’s pro­duc­ing hun­dreds of mil­lions of dos­es of the As­traZeneca/Ox­ford vac­cine, which it brand­ed CO­V­ISHIELD.
