Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla has asked countries waiting for doses of AstraZeneca and Oxford University’s vaccine to “please be patient,” as the manufacturer has been directed to prioritize India’s needs.
The Serum Institute is the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer by volume, according to Reuters. It’s producing hundreds of millions of doses of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine, which it branded COVISHIELD.
