Covid-19 roundup: JAMA study says people 65+ likely excluded from trials; Trump plans rollout of 150 million rapid tests
A new study published in JAMA Internal Medicine on Monday asserts that despite making up the vast majority of Covid-19 deaths, individuals older than 65 are highly likely to be excluded from clinical trials for vaccines and treatments.
Researchers looked at 847 Covid-19 studies posted on the US government’s clinical trials directory between Oct. 1, 2019 and June 1 of this year. They determined that this age population is likely to be left out of more than half of all trials, as well as 100% of vaccine trials.
