Cybersecurity experts warn biopharma industry is not prepared for the next big attack: 'We are thoroughly f****d'

The biopharma industry celebrated a win on the cybersecurity front this week, with Merck emerging victorious from its years-long legal battle with insurers over the coverage of devastating losses from a 2017 ransomware attack. But on the heels of that victory, experts warn that the industry has left its doors wide open for future attacks.

Earlier this week, the Department of Homeland Security reportedly sent a bulletin to law enforcement agencies warning of more potential Russian cyberattacks as tensions rise over conflict with Ukraine, according to ABC News. Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre also issued a statement on Friday urging UK businesses to bolster their cybersecurity.
