Deer­field adds an­oth­er aca­d­e­m­ic part­ner in $130M Wash­ing­ton Uni­ver­si­ty pact

Health­care in­vest­ment firm Deer­field Man­age­ment has cre­at­ed an­oth­er com­pa­ny to part­ner up with acad­e­mia, and it’s promis­ing up to $130 mil­lion over 10 years to help Wash­ing­ton Uni­ver­si­ty re­searchers cre­ate new ther­a­pies and di­ag­nos­tics.

Deer­field has formed near­ly 30 part­ner­ships with acad­e­mia to date, and its lat­est tie-up is with one of the most well-fund­ed US uni­ver­si­ties. The St. Louis-based in­sti­tu­tion reeled in $633 mil­lion in NIH fund­ing in the 2023 fed­er­al fis­cal year, com­ing in be­hind just six oth­er uni­ver­si­ties in the coun­try. Its med­ical school ranked even high­er, at No. 2 in NIH fund­ing.
