Deerfield taps NYU Langone Health as latest academic partner, inking $130M translational research pact
Deerfield Management is ready to add another academic research center to its network of partners, with a commitment of up to $130 million over the next 10 years.
NYU Langone Health will work with Deerfield via a new company called Amethyst Innovations, which will support research projects at the medical centers in hopes of speeding up the ultimate commercialization of those discoveries.
It joins Columbia, Harvard, Duke, Dana-Farber and a few others in similar translational research arrangements with Deerfield. The New York City-based investment firm says such partnerships offer an alternative path for researchers to take their work forward, including both scientific and operational support as drug candidates materialize and move toward the clinic. In turn, Deerfield hopes to keep a close relationship with the scientists behind cutting-edge insights and technologies.
