Di­ag­nos­tics out­fit lays off third of em­ploy­ees, now look­ing at 's­trate­gic al­ter­na­tives'

A Lex­ing­ton, MA-based di­ag­nos­tics com­pa­ny has laid off near­ly 30% of its em­ploy­ees as it search­es for “strate­gic al­ter­na­tives,” in­clud­ing a po­ten­tial ac­qui­si­tion or merg­er.

T2 Biosys­tems, which spe­cial­izes in blood tests but ex­pand­ed to Covid-19 us­ing up­per res­pi­ra­to­ry sam­ples, put out word on Tues­day that its re­struc­tur­ing ef­forts in­clud­ed a rough­ly 30% staff re­duc­tion com­plet­ed last week. A spokesper­son told End­points News that the lay­offs im­pact­ed mul­ti­ple de­part­ments, and that the cur­rent head­count is around 110 em­ploy­ees.
