DOJ dismisses insider trading charges against Viatris exec
A former top executive at the generic drug company Viatris had his insider trading allegations dropped by the Department of Justice two weeks before the trial.
Ramkumar Rayapureddy was cleared of the charges after the DOJ alleged three counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud. The allegations, announced in November 2022, were part of an elaborate, $8 million scheme that government officials said he conducted with a close friend who shared some of those cash profits with the former chief information officer at Viatris.
