DOJ dis­miss­es in­sid­er trad­ing charges against Vi­a­tris ex­ec

A for­mer top ex­ec­u­tive at the gener­ic drug com­pa­ny Vi­a­tris had his in­sid­er trad­ing al­le­ga­tions dropped by the De­part­ment of Jus­tice two weeks be­fore the tri­al.

Ramku­mar Raya­pured­dy was cleared of the charges af­ter the DOJ al­leged three counts of se­cu­ri­ties fraud and one count of con­spir­a­cy to com­mit se­cu­ri­ties fraud. The al­le­ga­tions, an­nounced in No­vem­ber 2022, were part of an elab­o­rate, $8 mil­lion scheme that gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials said he con­duct­ed with a close friend who shared some of those cash prof­its with the for­mer chief in­for­ma­tion of­fi­cer at Vi­a­tris.
