Eli Lil­ly cracks down on im­porters and dis­trib­u­tors of com­pound­ed Moun­jaro

Eli Lil­ly took le­gal ac­tion on Thurs­day to stop for­eign im­porters and do­mes­tic dis­trib­u­tors from sell­ing and dis­trib­ut­ing wa­tered-down ver­sions of its block­buster type 2 di­a­betes drug Moun­jaro.

The drug­mak­er filed a gen­er­al ex­clu­sion or­der and a cease-and-de­sist or­der at the In­ter­na­tion­al Trade Com­mis­sion in Wash­ing­ton, DC, ac­cord­ing to court doc­u­ments. The ac­cused par­ties are de­scribed as “on­line phar­ma­cies sell­ing low-grade tirzepatide … through mis­use of Lil­ly’s Moun­jaro trade­mark and/or false and mis­lead­ing state­ments re­gard­ing ap­proval and as­so­ci­a­tion.”
