
Eli Lilly ousts CFO Josh Smiley after 'inappropriate relationship' with employee, appoints successor in Anat Ashkenazi
Eli Lilly CFO Josh Smiley was touted as one of David Rick’s new blood hires back in 2017, when the helmsman looked to overhaul the listless drugmaker’s top leadership. But now, just over three years into the job, Smiley is out after allegations of inappropriate behavior with other team members.
Lilly will promote Anat Ashkenazi, previously the CFO of Lilly Research Labs, to the larger company’s lead finance role after Smiley was dismissed following an “inappropriate personal relationship” with an employee, the drugmaker said Tuesday.
