Eli Lil­ly ousts CFO Josh Smi­ley af­ter 'i­nap­pro­pri­ate re­la­tion­ship' with em­ploy­ee, ap­points suc­ces­sor in Anat Ashke­nazi

Eli Lil­ly CFO Josh Smi­ley was tout­ed as one of David Ricks’ new blood hires back in 2017, when the helms­man looked to over­haul the list­less drug­mak­er’s top lead­er­ship. But now, just over three years in­to the job, Smi­ley is out af­ter al­le­ga­tions of in­ap­pro­pri­ate be­hav­ior with oth­er team mem­bers.

Lil­ly will pro­mote Anat Ashke­nazi, pre­vi­ous­ly the CFO of Lil­ly Re­search Labs, to the larg­er com­pa­ny’s lead fi­nance role af­ter Smi­ley was dis­missed fol­low­ing an “in­ap­pro­pri­ate per­son­al re­la­tion­ship” with an em­ploy­ee, the drug­mak­er said Tues­day.
