Eu­rope’s Sofinno­va rais­es first $200M dig­i­tal med­i­cine fund, look­ing to back over 15 star­tups

Sofinno­va Part­ners has raised an in­au­gur­al $200 mil­lion fund fo­cused on dig­i­tal med­i­cine, the Eu­ro­pean VC firm an­nounced Thurs­day.

Sofinno­va part­ners Ed­ward Kli­phuis and Si­mon Turn­er will lead the fund and ex­pect to in­vest in 15 to 18 com­pa­nies. In an in­ter­view with End­points News, Kli­phuis said he ex­pects to in­vest $3 mil­lion to $12 mil­lion in each com­pa­ny, fo­cus­ing main­ly on seed- and Se­ries A-stage star­tups. Kli­phuis es­ti­mat­ed that 70% of its in­vest­ments will be based in Eu­rope, with the oth­er 30% be­ing in US-based star­tups.
