Exclusive: Dimension leads $40M round for lab automation company Automata Technologies
As life sciences companies seek new ways to generate enormous amounts of experimental data, London-based lab automation player Automata Technologies has reaped another $40 million to expand its footprint.
CEO Mostafa ElSayed and his co-founder Suryansh Chandra didn’t set out to build a lab automation company. Both architects, who worked together at Zaha Hadid’s research lab, started the company to design a desktop robot arm that can be purchased for under $10,000 and programmed to perform a wide range of tasks. Their initial customers ranged from electronics and automotive manufacturers to food and beverage producers.
