Up­dat­ed: FDA says it has no plans for Is­rael-based of­fice

Two Food and Drug Ad­min­is­tra­tion of­fi­cials met with the Is­raeli em­bassy on Dec. 14 in Sil­ver Spring, MD, to dis­cuss es­tab­lish­ing a new FDA of­fice in Is­rael, ac­cord­ing to an up­dat­ed pub­lic cal­en­dar from the US drug reg­u­la­tor late last month. But an FDA spokesper­son told End­points News via email that the agency “has no plans at this time for an FDA of­fice in Is­rael.”

The cal­en­dar says the FDA’s two se­nior in­ter­na­tion­al pol­i­cy ad­vi­sors, An­na Ferus and Se­ma Hashe­mi, met to dis­cuss the agency’s “Per­spec­tive on the Idea of Es­tab­lish­ing an FDA Of­fice in Is­rael” with the Is­raeli Em­bassy’s Eli­av Ben­jamin, coun­selor for po­lit­i­cal af­fairs, and Omer Bab, di­rec­tor of trade and reg­u­la­to­ry pol­i­cy.
