Fe­male in­vestors track progress, call for more women on boards and in lead­er­ship roles

A few years ago, when Beth Sei­den­berg searched for a biotech VC leader to help steer the next wave of in­vest­ments at West­lake Vil­lage BioPart­ners, she was de­ter­mined to find a woman to fill the role.

“I on­ly in­ter­viewed women at that point,” Sei­den­berg said. “Some­body like my­self, who has been in the in­dus­try now in­vest­ing for about 20 years, if I’m not go­ing to be fo­cus­ing on bring­ing the next gen­er­a­tion of women for­ward, then who will be? It re­al­ly does have to be a de­lib­er­ate ef­fort.”
