Flagship plants next bet on chronic diseases with ex-Ancestry CEO at the helm

After running Google’s Americas division, steering the ship at toymaker Mattel and selling Ancestry.com for $5 billion, Margo Georgiadis is now leading the latest bet by Flagship Pioneering, which debuted Tuesday with $50 million.

Montai Health broke stealth after three years in the works at Noubar Afeyan’s biotech incubator, which has spawned the likes of Moderna and a long list of other drug developers and agricultural tech startups. That now includes a hunt for new chronic disease treatments based on molecules already consumed by humans via foods, supplements and herbal medicines.
