
Former college roommates combine health and tech backgrounds to raise $58M for new fund

Three decades after meeting as freshmen studying engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Eileen Tanghal and Tara Bishop teamed up to raise a new health tech venture fund.
The college roommates announced earlier this month that they’d raised $58 million to date for their firm Black Opal Ventures from investors that included Eli Lilly, Atlantic Health System Venture Studio and Bank of America to invest in early-stage health tech startups.
