Fre­se­nius cen­ters its own March mad­ness on kid­ney cam­paign with for­mer NBA star and kid­ney trans­plant pa­tient

March means col­lege bas­ket­ball mad­ness, but al­so kid­ney health aware­ness. So Fre­se­nius is con­nect­ing the two with a new cam­paign fea­tur­ing for­mer NBA star and kid­ney trans­plant re­cip­i­ent Sean El­liott.

El­liott is serv­ing as Fre­se­nius’ head “coach” in its ef­fort to spread the word about risk fac­tors and healthy liv­ing along with as­sists from its own net­work of em­ploy­ees, physi­cians and even pa­tient coach­es. The Na­tion­al Kid­ney Foun­da­tion es­ti­mates that one in sev­en US adults has kid­ney dis­ease, how­ev­er, more than 95% of those in the ear­ly stages and more than 40% of peo­ple in lat­er stages of the dis­ease don’t know they have it.
