FDA didn't conduct any new inspections of Covid-19 vaccine manufacturing facilities prior to issuing EUAs
The FDA did not conduct any new in-person inspections of Covid-19 vaccine manufacturing plants prior to issuing the EUAs for Pfizer, Moderna and J&J’s shots, the Government Accountability Office said Wednesday in a new report.
Instead, the agency had to rely on historical findings for the 18 manufacturing sites, although the GAO noted that the FDA was not required by law to conduct new inspections of the sites.
