GAO re­port calls on FDA to re­duce in­spec­tor turnover both home and abroad

Just weeks af­ter the FDA an­nounced its hold on for­eign in­spec­tions will con­tin­ue in­to Feb­ru­ary, the feds’ ac­count­abil­i­ty of­fice is call­ing up­on the reg­u­la­to­ry agency to make changes to im­prove man­u­fac­tur­ing safe­ty and ef­fi­ca­cy.

The US Gov­ern­ment Ac­count­abil­i­ty Of­fice out­lined sev­er­al key is­sues it wants the FDA to ad­dress: de­vel­op a pi­lot pro­gram to re­duce va­can­cies in its work­force and high­light open po­si­tions among the gov­ern­ment’s drug in­ves­ti­ga­tors to im­prove its for­eign in­spec­tion process.
