Genentech reaches settlement with the EPA over hazardous waste violations
Genentech has reached a settlement with the Environmental Protection Agency over claims of hazardous waste violations at three locations in its facility in South San Francisco.
As part of the settlement, Genentech will pay over $158,000 in civil penalties. According to the EPA, inspectors in August 2021 found several infractions at the locations, including with how Genentech stored waste, tracked emissions, marked equipment and stayed on top of inspections.
