Genen­tech reach­es set­tle­ment with the EPA over haz­ardous waste vi­o­la­tions

Genen­tech has reached a set­tle­ment with the En­vi­ron­men­tal Pro­tec­tion Agency over claims of haz­ardous waste vi­o­la­tions at three lo­ca­tions in its fa­cil­i­ty in South San Fran­cis­co.

As part of the set­tle­ment, Genen­tech will pay over $158,000 in civ­il penal­ties. Ac­cord­ing to the EPA, in­spec­tors in Au­gust 2021 found sev­er­al in­frac­tions at the lo­ca­tions, in­clud­ing with how Genen­tech stored waste, tracked emis­sions, marked equip­ment and stayed on top of in­spec­tions.
