GSK asks US patent of­fice to refuse Mod­er­na’s ‘Covid Mvax’ trade­mark reg­is­tra­tion as 'too gener­ic'

Be­fore there were Covid-19 vac­cines, there were trade­marked names for Covid-19 vac­cines. The phar­ma com­pa­nies work­ing fast and fu­ri­ous­ly on the sci­en­tif­ic dis­cov­er­ies in 2020 al­so de­ployed mar­ket­ing teams and brand­ing agen­cies to come up with po­ten­tial vac­cine names.

Pfiz­er and BioN­Tech, Mod­er­na, John­son & John­son and No­vavax all filed mul­ti­ple po­ten­tial names with the US Patent and Trade­mark Of­fice in 2020 and ear­ly 2021.
