NIH contributes billions to new drug development. GAO says patents don't tell the full story
The National Institutes of Health, which continues to wait for President Biden’s nomination of its next leader, spends hundreds of billions on research that translates into biomedical breakthroughs and new drug approvals. But the exact extent to which NIH contributes to drug development is still “difficult to measure and not well understood,” a new Government Accountability Office report released Thursday found.
