Icahn wins backing from shareholder advisory firm in bid to remove Illumina CEO from board
Illumina’s CEO and board chairman shouldn’t be reelected to the board of directors, the proxy advisory firm Glass Lewis said, giving a tactical victory to activist investor Carl Icahn in his battle with the company.
Glass Lewis is an advisory firm that weighs in on shareholder questions and makes recommendations in proxy contests. Instead of reelecting Illumina CEO Francis deSouza and board chair John Thompson, the firm said shareholders should support Vincent Intrieri and Andrew Teno, two directors proposed by Icahn.
