Illumina receives EU order to divest Grail
The European Commission on Thursday announced that it will send Illumina an order to divest Grail, marking the next phase in an antitrust case that has weighed on the genomics behemoth.
After European regulators blocked the $7.1 billion deal a year ago, the divestment order was all but inevitable. Illumina has signaled that it will appeal.
“With today’s decision, the Commission has adopted restorative measures requiring Illumina to divest GRAIL and restore the situation prevailing before the completion of the acquisition,” reads a press release.
