Pres­i­dent Joe Biden’s choice to be the next FDA com­mis­sion­er squeaked by in a Sen­ate pro­ce­dur­al vote late Mon­day, 49-45, in fa­vor of lim­it­ing de­bate and pro­ceed­ing to a fi­nal con­fir­ma­tion vote to­day at noon ET.

Rob Califf’s cam­paign to re­turn atop the FDA be­gan with some smooth sail­ing in his Sen­ate con­fir­ma­tion hear­ing, even as 5 De­moc­rats took a stand against Califf, with Sen. Joe Manchin lead­ing the charge.
