J&J reach­es $99M opi­oid set­tle­ment with West Vir­ginia, gets cleared to ex­it opi­oid li­a­bil­i­ty law­suit

Just a short time af­ter En­do reached a set­tle­ment with West Vir­ginia re­gard­ing its role in the US opi­oid epi­dem­ic, J&J is fol­low­ing suit.

The mega phar­ma an­nounced ear­ly Mon­day that it has reached a set­tle­ment with West Vir­ginia that will see the com­pa­ny pay out $99 mil­lion to clear up claims spe­cif­ic to J&J’s al­leged role in the state’s opi­oid cri­sis.

While the deal means J&J is no longer part of an on­go­ing tri­al that start­ed two weeks ago, the com­pa­ny spec­i­fied that the set­tle­ment is not an ad­mis­sion of guilt.
