Lon­za to shut­ter Cal­i­for­nia mam­malian clin­i­cal fa­cil­i­ty and lay off 218 staffers

Lon­za is clos­ing its mam­malian clin­i­cal man­u­fac­tur­ing fa­cil­i­ty in Hay­ward, CA, with 218 em­ploy­ees to be laid off by Feb. 2, a Lon­za spokesper­son told End­points News.

“This de­ci­sion has been reached as CD­MO mar­ket de­mand is fo­cused on com­bined and in­te­grat­ed clin­i­cal-com­mer­cial of­fer­ings, and the Hay­ward site pro­vides lim­it­ed growth op­por­tu­ni­ties be­yond its clin­i­cal scope,”  the spokesper­son added.
