Merck's HPV 'Story' campaign reminds people on digital and social channels about the virus' connection to some cancers

Mer­ck en­lists HPV-re­lat­ed can­cer sur­vivors and physi­cians in so­cial and dig­i­tal ‘Sto­ry’ cam­paign

Mer­ck is re­mind­ing peo­ple about the con­nec­tion be­tween HPV and can­cer with a se­ries of pa­tient and physi­cian sto­ries. The re­newed so­cial me­dia and dig­i­tal aware­ness cam­paign “My HPV Can­cer Sto­ry” shines the spot­light again on the still rel­a­tive­ly un­known con­nec­tion be­tween cer­vi­cal can­cer and HPV.

It’s es­pe­cial­ly rel­e­vant this month dur­ing Cer­vi­cal Can­cer Aware­ness Month — about 95% of cer­vi­cal can­cers are caused by HPV, ac­cord­ing to stats from the World Health Or­ga­ni­za­tion. While most HPV in­fec­tions (90%) clear on their own, about 45,000 HPV-re­lat­ed can­cers are re­port­ed in the US every year.
