
Merck enlists HPV-related cancer survivors and physicians in social and digital ‘Story’ campaign
Merck is reminding people about the connection between HPV and cancer with a series of patient and physician stories. The renewed social media and digital awareness campaign “My HPV Cancer Story” shines the spotlight again on the still relatively unknown connection between cervical cancer and HPV.
It’s especially relevant this month during Cervical Cancer Awareness Month — about 95% of cervical cancers are caused by HPV, according to stats from the World Health Organization. While most HPV infections (90%) clear on their own, about 45,000 HPV-related cancers are reported in the US every year.
