Mod­er­na trades US base­ball mar­ket­ing for sumo wrestling ads in Japan

Mod­er­na’s been spon­sor­ing Ma­jor League Base­ball and Amer­i­can foot­ball in the US, so it’s on­ly fit­ting it would turn to Japan’s na­tion­al sport — sumo wrestling — as it looks to boost its brand there.

Mod­er­na’s brand is now cir­cling wrestling rings on a sumo flag, car­ried by peo­ple “cir­cling the sumo ring and have tra­di­tion­al­ly served as ads for every­day goods such as vi­t­a­mins, teas, juices and rice,” as first re­port­ed by Reuters.
