Months af­ter IPO, Ital­ian vial com­pa­ny lands BAR­DA in­vest­ment as gov­ern­ment looks to shore up pan­dem­ic pre­pared­ness

BAR­DA has en­list­ed the help of an Ital­ian drug con­tain­ment com­pa­ny to ex­pand its man­u­fac­tur­ing ca­pac­i­ty in Fish­ers, IN for vial pro­duc­tion, the com­pa­ny an­nounced Tues­day.

Ste­vana­to will get $95 mil­lion from the De­part­ment of De­fense through the joint pro­gram ex­ec­u­tive of­fice for chem­i­cal, bi­o­log­i­cal, ra­di­o­log­i­cal and nu­clear de­fense and army con­tract­ing com­mand. The In­di­ana plant will ex­pand its stan­dard and EZ-Fill vial ca­pac­i­ty to pre­pare for fu­ture pan­dem­ic pre­pared­ness. It will al­so pro­vide BAR­DA-as­so­ci­at­ed phar­ma and drug de­vel­op­ment part­ners with pri­or­i­ty ac­cess to vials go­ing for­ward, if nec­es­sary.
