No­var­tis is ax­ing some 150 ear­ly dis­cov­er jobs in Shang­hai as it swells its staff on the drug de­vel­op­ment side of the equa­tion in Chi­na. And the com­pa­ny is con­cur­rent­ly beef­ing up its in­vest­ment in Chi­na’s fast-grow­ing biotech sec­tor with a plan to add to its in­vest­ments in lo­cal VCs.
