No­var­tis to re­duce de­vel­op­ment team by near­ly 700 po­si­tions

No­var­tis plans to shrink its glob­al de­vel­op­ment team by up to 680 roles, the Swiss phar­ma gi­ant con­firmed in an emailed state­ment to End­points News on Tues­day af­ter­noon.

The drug­mak­er said most of the im­pact would oc­cur in its home coun­try of Switzer­land, where up to 440 roles could be elim­i­nat­ed. Up to 240 roles could be im­pact­ed in the US.

No­var­tis is still con­sult­ing on the changes, which could lead to a 1% to 2% re­duc­tion in its glob­al de­vel­op­ment or­ga­ni­za­tion, the spokesper­son said. To­day, it has about 12,500 work­ers in that unit.
