Pfizer drops case against ex-staffer accused of stealing trade secrets — including details about Covid-19 vaccine

Just three months after filing a lawsuit accusing a former staffer of stealing trade secrets — including information relating to its BioNTech-partnered Covid-19 vaccine — Pfizer is dropping the case.

The pharma giant and the ex-employee involved, Chun Xiao (Sherry) Li, filed a joint motion to dismiss the case, although court filings didn’t reveal the reason for it.

Li, a former associate director of clinical statistics at Pfizer who was set to start a new job at Xencor, allegedly uploaded over 12,000 files from her Pfizer-issued laptop to a personal account and, when confronted about it, misled the company about her actions, according to the company’s initial complaint.
