FDA com­mis­sion­er Rob Califf is on a hir­ing spree — and ac­cord­ing to a Politi­co re­port, his next se­nior hire may come from the ranks of NBC and MSNBC’s fre­quent guest list.

Vin Gup­ta, a pul­mo­nolo­gist and Ama­zon’s chief med­ical of­fi­cer of new prod­ucts, is the lead can­di­date for the FDA’s prin­ci­pal med­ical ad­vis­er role, three un­named sources told Politi­co. Gup­ta al­so makes fre­quent ap­pear­ances as a med­ical an­a­lyst for NBC News and MSNBC.
