Sen. Patty Murray urges HHS to ramp up monkeypox response as cases pass 2,100
As monkeypox cases surpass 2,100 in the US, Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) said in a letter to HHS secretary Xavier Becerra that the agency’s current response is not enough.
The letter comes days after BARDA requested 2.5 million more doses of Bavarian Nordic’s Jynneos shot, the only vaccine approved by the FDA to protect against monkeypox. While the US has confirmed 2,108 cases, according to the CDC, the global case count sits at about 14,000.
