Sens. Durbin and Grass­ley lever­age Medicare drug ne­go­ti­a­tion list to rein­vig­o­rate a push for drug prices in ads

Two high-rank­ing sen­a­tors are once again push­ing to force phar­ma com­pa­nies to in­clude the price of drugs in di­rect-to-con­sumer ad­ver­tis­ing.

Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Chuck Grass­ley (R-IA) are re­new­ing long­stand­ing ef­forts, with Grass­ley fil­ing their co-spon­sored “Drug-price Trans­paren­cy for Con­sumers Act of 2023” as an amend­ment to the Fi­nance Com­mit­tee’s mark-up in Ju­ly, a Durbin spokesper­son told End­points News. Mean­while, Durbin cap­i­tal­ized on the at­ten­tion to the Medicare drug price ne­go­ti­a­tion list an­nounced Tues­day with a call-to-ac­tion post on X, for­mer­ly known as Twit­ter.
