The White House has been working for months in lockstep with major drugmakers to develop a Covid-19 vaccine by the start of the next year, an unprecedented feat. House lawmakers, though, had a few questions about that plan.
For 2 hours, Democrats and a few Republicans grilled representatives from Pfizer, J&J, AstraZeneca, Moderna and Merck on whether, in hustling a vaccine to market in record time, they could also assure that it will be both safe and effective. And how they could assure that a vaccine, once proven, will be distributed equitably.
