Teva trial over alleged Medicare kickbacks stopped while pending appeal of potential $10B judgment
The US government’s lawsuit against Teva Pharmaceuticals alleging Medicare fraud has been temporarily stopped in Massachusetts District Court while Teva appeals a court order that allowed the case to move forward. If Teva loses, it could mean the company faces a judgment that could exceed $10 billion.
Teva sought summary judgment in July, but the court denied the request and also ruled lawyers for the government did not have to prove that any particular Medicare payments would not have been made but for the illegal kickbacks.
