Thermo Fisher's new $180 million manufacturing site in Plainville, MA

Ther­mo Fish­er opens its sec­ond site in a week, this time clos­er to its Mass­a­chu­setts head­quar­ters

Man­u­fac­tur­ing gi­ant Ther­mo Fish­er is con­tin­u­ing its re­cent streak of ma­jor open­ings, and this one is much clos­er to its head­quar­ters in Waltham, MA.

The com­pa­ny an­nounced on Wednes­day that it has opened a new vi­ral vec­tor man­u­fac­tur­ing plant in Plainville, MA, about 48 miles from Boston. The 300,000-square-foot site, which cost the com­pa­ny $180 mil­lion, will add ap­prox­i­mate­ly 300 jobs to the area for the de­vel­op­ment, test­ing and man­u­fac­tur­ing of vi­ral vec­tors, which are vi­tal for the de­vel­op­ment of gene ther­a­pies.
