Ther­mo Fish­er to shut­ter Petaluma man­u­fac­tur­ing fa­cil­i­ty, lay off 74 staffers by Feb­ru­ary

Ther­mo Fish­er is clos­ing its Petaluma, CA, fa­cil­i­ty in Ju­ly and will not re­new its lease, a spokesper­son said, with a WARN no­tice stat­ing that the com­pa­ny is lay­ing off 74 staffers ef­fec­tive Feb­ru­ary from the same site.

The Petaluma site man­u­fac­tures pipette tips, mi­cro­cen­trifuge tubes and racks, the spokesper­son added. Dur­ing the pan­dem­ic, the site was one of five fa­cil­i­ties the com­pa­ny in­vest­ed $140 mil­lion in to boost Covid-19 vac­cine pro­duc­tion and test­ing.
