Ed­i­tors note: In late March, long­time R&D ex­ec Kris­ten Hege be­gan a six-month trek along the Pa­cif­ic Crest Trail. Pe­ri­od­i­cal­ly, she’ll be up­dat­ing read­ers on her progress, and us­ing the oc­ca­sion to raise funds for a project that re­cruits more young women sci­en­tists in­to the lab of Carl June and Bruce Levine.
