'We want to carry them all': Mark Cuban on why transparency is king when it comes to drug prices
Mark Cuban, owner of his own steeply discounted generic drugs company, laid into pharmacy benefit managers today, saying part of the problem is that the middlemen help set the prices of drugs.
“When the patient, government, business can remove intermediaries, prices can be set to meet the needs of the seller and patients rather than middlemen,” Cuban wrote on Twitter on Friday.
While PBMs say their rebates help lower drug prices for patients and save the system money, often times these companies find new ways to capture parts of the pharma pie for their own taking. PBMs are currently facing political pressure from both sides of the aisle.
