Up­dat­ed: Welling­ton puts a bow on new $476M pri­vate biotech fund

Welling­ton Man­age­ment has a boat­load of new cash to play with af­ter clos­ing its sec­ond biotech-fo­cused fund.

The firm put to­geth­er a fund of about $476 mil­lion called Bio­med­ical In­no­va­tion II, it an­nounced Thurs­day morn­ing in a press re­lease, about three and a half years af­ter clos­ing its first fund. Welling­ton plans to make about 25 to 30 in­vest­ments with the fund, I-Hung Shih, the firm’s co-head of biotech pri­vate in­vest­ments, told End­points News on Thurs­day.
