Ex-FDA com­mish Scott Got­tlieb says he's 'very proud' of Pfiz­er post as top Dem at­tacks in­flu­ence ped­dling

Scott Got­tlieb isn’t apol­o­giz­ing to any­one for his de­ci­sion to ac­cept a po­si­tion on Pfiz­er’s board of di­rec­tors — less than 3 months af­ter his ex­it as FDA com­mis­sion­er. In fact, he’s clear­ly en­joy­ing the ca­reer coup. But one promi­nent De­mo­c­ra­t­ic can­di­date for pres­i­dent took him to task for it to­day, say­ing it smacked of cor­rup­tion and urged him to quit.

“This new role at Pfiz­er clear­ly is a big­ger role than I did be­fore I came in­to the FDA,” Got­tlieb said on CN­BC. “It’s some­thing that I’m very proud of, it’s some­thing that I think I can make a lot of con­tri­bu­tion over time. But I made no bones about the fact that I had ex­per­tise in life sci­ences and I made my liv­ing try­ing to pro­mote in­no­va­tion in this sec­tor pri­or to com­ing to the agency.”
