Abor­tion pill can't just 's­nap back' to pre-2016, FDA's Wood­cock tells SCO­TUS

Re­turn­ing to a 2016 la­bel for the abor­tion pill mifepri­s­tone — a move sought by a fed­er­al ap­peals court last week — would “cre­ate sig­nif­i­cant chaos” and take at least months to im­ple­ment, the FDA ex­plained to the Supreme Court in a fil­ing late Fri­day.

The com­ments fol­low the Supreme Court’s de­ci­sion late Fri­day to tem­porar­i­ly pause a con­tro­ver­sial Texas court’s rul­ing — un­til mid­night Thurs­day — that would re­scind the ap­proval of mifepri­s­tone.
