As­traZeneca launch­es men­tal health hub for blood can­cer pa­tients and care­givers

A can­cer di­ag­no­sis of­ten rings alarm bells, and a not-sur­pris­ing re­ac­tion is want­i­ng to act quick­ly. How­ev­er, when it comes to chron­ic blood can­cers, a com­mon rec­om­men­da­tion for ac­tive sur­veil­lance, or “watch and wait,” as it’s of­ten called, can present men­tal health chal­lenges.

With slow-grow­ing chron­ic lym­pho­cyt­ic leukemia (CLL), the most com­mon form of adult leukemia, even treat­ment of­ten comes with the caveat of “liv­ing with” and man­ag­ing the dis­ease ver­sus oth­er types of can­cer where suc­cess­ful treat­ment means no signs of can­cer.
