As the race to rapid­ly in­oc­u­late its res­i­dents with Covid-19 vac­cines ramps up, South Ko­rea is ready to of­fer the ca­pac­i­ty to make 1 bil­lion dos­es im­me­di­ate­ly, a se­nior gov­ern­ment of­fi­cial told Reuters.

Asia has lagged be­hind in roll­outs while sev­er­al coun­tries have seen a spike in cas­es. South Ko­rea al­ready has plans in place to pro­duce vac­cines from As­traZeneca, No­vavax and Rus­sia lo­cal­ly. Tues­day, it was an­nounced that Is­rael will ex­change 700,000 dos­es of Pfiz­er-BioN­Tech’s mR­NA-based vac­cine to South Ko­rea for the same num­ber back at a lat­er date.
