Covid-19 manufacturing roundup: In a push to vaccinate Asia, South Korea ready to make 1B vaccine available; Mexico's imports of Pfizer's jab reduced temporarily
As the race to rapidly inoculate its residents with Covid-19 vaccines ramps up, South Korea is ready to offer the capacity to make 1 billion doses immediately, a senior government official told Reuters.
Asia has lagged behind in rollouts while several countries have seen a spike in cases. South Korea already has plans in place to produce vaccines from AstraZeneca, Novavax and Russia locally. Tuesday, it was announced that Israel will exchange 700,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech’s mRNA-based vaccine to South Korea for the same number back at a later date.
