GSK chief Emma Walmsley made $10.8M last year, lagging far behind fellow Big Pharma CEOs
GlaxoSmithKline chief Emma Walmsley — Big Pharma’s first female CEO — saw a significant pay raise last year amid “strong sales and performance,” in part due to the company’s Covid antibody sales. But even so, her pay package still falls far behind those of other pharma chiefs, including fellow UK-based exec Pascal Soriot.
Walmsley took home just under $10.8 million in 2021 (£8.2 million), up from about $9.2 million (£7 million) in 2020. Most of that boost came from a nearly $3 million bonus (£2.3 million), though she also saw a slight raise in fixed pay at $2.1 million (£1.6 million). In 2020, her bonus and fixed pay rang in at about $1.5 million (£1.2 million) and $2 million (£1.6 million), respectively.
